How To Use (Internet Download Manager) IDM On Chrome

Internet Download Manager(IDM) is a task management tool which helps in easy way to download multiple files at a time. It also has a special feature of increased download speeds up to 5 times faster than the ordinary download. It also includes helpful features, such as the ability to resume interrupted processes, to perform comprehensive error recovery, and many more. So, Internet Download Manager will also protects the users from downloading potentially harmful malware or corrupted files, which affects the systems.

If you have Google Chrome inbuilt or installed on your system and when you install IDM it will install its extension into the chrome browser which you have to enable it from Chrome extensions page. How To Install And Use IDM On Chrome:

  • Please update the latest version of IDM by clicking the menu option “IDM help=> Check for updates”.
  • For Google Chrome you have to enable “Use advanced browser integration” option in “Options=>General” IDM dialog (shown arrow 1 on the below image). Then check that integration into Chrome is also enabled (shown arrow 2 on the below image).
  • Integration may not work when the browser is launched in Admin mode. This can happen not only if you do this intentionally but when you launch Chrome from some intermediary program like Total Commander that is launched in Admin mode or if you use some portable version with custom launcher.
  • Maybe you or some program on your computer deleted IDM extension from Chrome or you have some old version of extension. You need to install the latest version of IDM extension. To do this process, you should click on Chrome menu option (shown arrow 1 on the below image), click on “Settings” menu option (shown arrow 2 on the below image) and then click on “Extensions” tab option (show arrow 3 on the below image). After this open IDM installation folder (shown arrow 4 on the below image) and drag and drop “IDMGCExt.crx” (shown arrow 5 on the below image) file into “Extensions” page opened in your Chrome. Please note that file may be named simply IDMGCExt if your Windows Explorer does not show the file extensions.
  • If you already added IDM extension into Chrome you need to configure it correctly. Check that “IDM Integration Module” extension is enabled (shown arrow 1 on the below image). If you use incognito mode in Chrome, you need to enable “Allow in incognito” checkbox (shown arrow 2 on the below image).
